IPL 2018 Auction: Players eligible for (Right-To-Match) RTM cards

As already announced by BCCI committee, regarding the retention policy for the upcoming season. Franchises can retain up to 5 players from their previous year Squad.

As we now on January 4’ 2018 a total of 18 players were retained by eight franchises. Now, All eyes are on the VIVO IPL Auction to be held on 27th and 28th January in Bengaluru. With retention list of each team already out, fans are getting an idea of how the franchises will line up this season.

Player retention price

As per BCCI guidelines, this season, each IPL franchises will have a higher salary purse of Rs 80 crores as compared to the previous IPL editions, but this is not all they have to say for the upcoming decade in IPL they have also planned to give a boost in upcoming editions in respect of their purse amount, to heat up the auction bid for the players, this will increase to Rs 82 crores in 2019 and Rs 85 crores in 2020.

In case, a team decides to retain only two players, they will have to pay Rs 21 crores, with Rs 12.5 crore for the 1st player and Rs 8.5 crore for the second player.

In case a team decides to retain only a single player, then they will have to give only Rs 12.5 crore.

In case, a team decides to retain an uncapped player, then a sum of Rs 3 crore will be deducted from their purse.

All the eight teams will have the option to have a maximum squad of 25 players, which comprises of maximum 8 overseas players. Every team must have at least 18 players in their squad.

With the ‘Right to Match’ card in the picture now, each team will try to retain players they have already established a rapport with their respective teams. Now, several scenarios by the franchises and anticipations by the fan have already increased the thinking tank of the respective teams, as it’s the last chance for their franchises to get their core team back.

Since CSK were suspended for the last two IPL’s they are allowed to retain the players who played for them in the 2015 3dition and then played for either Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) or Gujarat Lions (GL) in the 2016 and 2017 edition.
